This game is combination of different game genres these are city building, strategy, survival ang game presented in post-apocalyptic world setting. Frostpunk game developed and published by 11 Bit studios. The game released in 24 August 2018 for Microsoft windows. Later this game released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2019. And for mac OS the game released in February 2021.

Frostpunk overview

Frostpunk is the city building game mix with survival game experience. Game take place in alternate history in late 19th century. This time world covered with volcanic winter. With this freezing environment player have to build city by managing resources exploring the area and by making choices ultimately player have to survive with citizens in town. The game contains several scenarios to undertake, each with their own stories and different challenges.

Frostpunk Gameplay

When the game begins player get role of Caption in group of survivors. The survivor group have workers, engineers and children.  And player got small cash of supply that need to build city. Player need harvest coal, steel, wood and food these ingredients need to keep society health and warm. Political and weather conditions can affect for how people work. And all the city builds around the generator that made with a coal-reliant steam engine that produces heat in a circular radius. The radius distance of heat forms the generator can extend through the game. When building city for buildings each building requires minimum heat level. And medical facility will place near to reactor. Because player will face frostbite outbreaks and illness.

In the game player can use law to regulate production of the society. And player can make laws to keep better health care in the town. And player can get more citizens support either by

 ‘’Order” this includes buildings and laws to enforce security.

‘’Faith” this includes buildings and laws that implement religion.

The game set in alternate history in year 1886 that eruptions of Krakatoa and Mount Tambora. And dimming of the sun and other unknown factors lead to worldwide volcanic winter. In this situation crops and plant fail to grow and millions of people dies.

At this time generators instals in the British empire and united states. That generator provides heat using coal. player need to build city around generator and should survive the city and find recourses and food.

Game contains with three different scenarios with different story lines. And addition to more scenarios add as DLCs. One is free for all players and two comes as season pass. Later game gets endless mode to survive for long as possible.
